Why write for children?

Writing for children

A little while ago I realised I want to write for children.

I have written for children before but I’ve also written for adults. Until recently, I wasn’t sure which I preferred.

Many people want to write stories for children. They figure they know the territory: everyone has been a child, after all. It’s a chance to write about issues they experienced growing up. A sort of therapy, perhaps, or just a case of writing what they know. Language and plotting are simpler. It must be easier than writing for adults, yes? …

It’s well and truly 2016 and I’ve even stopped writing 2015 by mistake. As this is my first post for 2016….
